Orofacial Myofunctional therapy
This type of treatment focuses on improving the function and coordination of the muscles in the mouth and face. It is highly effective for individuals with conditions such as speech disorders, tongue thrust, tongue and lip tie, orofacial pain, sleep disturbances, mouth breathing, feeding disorders and more.
EVALUATION
A comprehensive speech-language evaluation will provide you with a thorough understanding of your child's current development, strengths and limitations, as well as maintaining factors. The evaluation is followed up with a discussion of recommendations and formation of a plan to help your child succeed. Screening, evaluation and assessment will be accomplished through a range of measures and activities, including standardized tests, interviews, dynamic procedures, such as diagnostic teaching and observational methods.
THERAPY
Once it is determined that a child is at risk for or has a communication deficit, a plan for services and support that includes intervention outcomes, methods and approaches will be developed. The purpose of intervention provided by the clinician is to maximize child's ability to manipulate speech and language effectively, to improve performance in school and to enhance the family's ability to support their child's development. The selection of a service delivery model will vary and will be based on the particular needs of individual children and their families.
